How It Works

Making it quicker to reach help

We are creating this system after hearing stories about how difficult it can be to get access to a mental health helpline in India. Rather than people having to try several numbers only to find that some are busy, some are not available, and some are not open, we decided to automate this process to connect you to help as soon as possible.

Call Routing

When you dial our unified number (1-800-212-7077, in India only) and indicate you want to be connected to a volunteer, we will check to see which lines are available from the 5 helplines in Kerala. As soon as we find a helpline that is open and not currently on a call, we will connect you to help. Afterwards, if you would like, you will be able to call again to give us feedback on how your experience was. If you like the service of any particular helpline, individual helpline numbers are still available for you to dial (and listed on the homepage).

Privacy Policy

When you call any helplines (including our main helpline), the call is not recorded. The system simply routes it to the first available helpline. Anonymous data from your call, such as the time or duration of call, is recorded to better understand how we can improve our service. You can read more about our privacy policy here.
